Quadratic Forms on Complex Random Matrices and Multi-Antenna Channel Capacity

چکیده
Quadratic forms on complex random matrices and their joint eigenvalue densities are derived for applications in information theory. These densities are represented by complex hypergeometric functions of matrix arguments, which can be expressed in terms of complex zonal polynomials. The derived densities are used to evaluate the most important information-theoretic measures, the so-called ergodic channel capacity and capacity versus outage of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) Rayleigh distributed wireless communication channels. Both (spatially) correlated and uncorrelated channels are considered and the corresponding information-theoretic measure formulas are derived. It is shown how channel correlation degrades the communication system capacity. To appear in Proc.

Capacity of multiple-antenna fading channels: spatial fading correlation, double scattering, and keyhole
The capacity of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless channels is limited by both the spatial fading correlation and rank deficiency of the channel. While spatial fading correlation reduces the diversity gains, rank deficiency due to double scattering or keyhole effects decreases the spatial multiplexing gains of multiple-antenna channels. In this paper, taking into account realistic p...
متن کاملMulti-Antenna Channels Capacity Estimation Made Easy Towards the non-Rayleigh Channels Case
We attempt to discover closed form expressions to numerically evaluate the capacity of multi-antenna wireless channels. We start from known results for the Gaussian (Rayleigh) channel where the numerical evaluation of the capacity can be simplified by recent advances of random matrices theory and involves the probability distribution of a Wishart matrix. Our goal is to explore different than Ra...
متن کاملA deterministic equivalent for the capacity analysis of correlated multi-user MIMO channels
This paper provides the analysis of capacity expressions in multi-user and multi-cell systems when the transmitters and receivers have a large number of correlated antennas. Our main contribution mathematically translates into a deterministic equivalent of the Shannon transform of a class of large dimensional random matrices. This class of large matrices is used in this contribution to model (i...
متن کاملThe Effect of Multi–Fold Scattering onto the Capacity of BLAST–like Systems
The linear vector–valued channel x 7! QiM ix + z with z and M i denoting additive white Gaussian noise and independent random matrices, respectively, is used to model shadowing for BLAST– like communication systems. It is analyzed in the asymptotic regime as the dimensions of the matrices and vectors involved become large by means of free probability theory. It turns out that almost all singula...
متن کاملMultiple-antennas and isotropically random unitary inputs: The received signal density in closed form
An important open problem in multiple antenna communications theory is to compute the capacity of a wireless link subject to flat Rayleigh block-fading, with no channel-state information available either to the transmitter or to the receiver. The isotropically-random (i.r.) unitary matrix–having orthonormal columns, and a probability density that is invariant to pre-multiplication by an indepen...
